Auctioneer to give out monthly gold bar for next six months
An online auctioneer will make six people lucky through March 2012, AuctionBytes.com reports.
Proxibid is kicking off a rewards program that will see it hand out one one-ounce gold bar per month, totaling six bars by when the program ends early next year.
The winners will be randomly selected but will have become eligible for the drawing when bidding on auctions of coins and currency.
Jason Nielsen, vice president of risk and payments for Proxibid, was with PayPal for 10 years prior to joining Proxibid last year.
The online auction offers two types of auctions. One is timed and the second is a live-auction experience. The live-auction experience is telecast live and equipped with audio capabilities. The type of goods that Proxibid typically sells during real-auction categories includes art, antiques, farm machinery, implements, construction equipment and other items.
Analysts anticipate gold prices to resume rising in value amid strengthening demand from consumers in India and China, the world's two biggest buyers of the yellowish metal.
With a record price of $1,923.70 per troy ounce as set in early September, bullion is driving toward an 11th consecutive year of annual gains.
