Thermal Reduction

The Thermal Reduction Department, commonly referred to as the “burn department,” features our unique Advanced Pyrolitic Reduction process. This process is especially appropriate for materials that are too sensitive for common incineration methods.
Thermal reduction roasts the precious-metal-bearing scrap lots in individual stainless steel pans in a turbulent-free, oxygen-starved environment. Using controlled temperatures, the materials are reduced at a controlled rate to minimize any potential loss. The final product is a precious-metals-bearing ash, which is then sent to either the Mechanical Reduction or Melt Department.
Environmental Controls
To properly manage the exhaust produced during the thermal reduction process, the airstream is sent into a secondary chamber called the After Burner. The After Burner reprocesses the gases and removes particulate matter from the airstream. It then goes through the Wet Scrubber, which further neutralizes and removes the remaining particulate before being released into the atmosphere.
